Book Review: WASPS IN THE ICE CREAM by Tim McGregor

“Wasps in the Ice Cream” is a killer coming-of-age story from the creative mind of Tim McGregor. We take a journey back to the 80’s, or the late 1900’s as the kids say these days, during the height of the Satanic Panic.

As we read this story, we can’t help but to reminisce about how things were back then. Things were simpler, yet to us, complicated.

We meet Mark and George, short for Georgia. Two unlikely lovers from the opposite side of the tracks. A modern day Danny and Sandy. (Grease reference).

Mark is wasting away his summer vacation with his loser friends when his life is flipped upside-down while falling for the town freak. George, being that town freak has to come to terms with her own feelings, and possibly allow herself to open up to someone.

I know, I’ve made this sound like a total romance story with musical numbers. Nope, it’s not. Trust me.

Full of Adolescent troubles, pranks gone wrong, secret lives, and a supernatural presence at inappropriate times, "Wasps in the Ice Cream" will have you flipping pages at record speed seeing what happens next.

A story of consequences, and owning up to actions. A story of being haunted by guilt. And a story of losing what you have without realizing you had it.

The plot and character development are brilliantly weaved together to complement one another.

You’ll experience several feels, leading up to the surprise twisted ending.

Easily a 5-star read!
